6 Tips to Stay Healthy During the Holidays

It’s that time of the year:  good food, lots of fun and festive family gatherings everywhere we turn. Many don’t prioritize meat and veggies during meal time which means we snack more on high calorie foods that may not exactly come from nature.  Regardless, it is a time for celebration and eating yummy seasonal foods is a big part of our yearly celebration.  I hope you enjoy these healthy tips from some of Sunlighten’s partners! I have to say, they have some great advice on how to keep happy and healthy year-round.

Tips to Stay Healthy During the Holidays

Tip Number 1:

Tip Number 2:

Tip Number 3:

Tip Number 4:
Take a detox bath!  Christa Orecchio is a clinical and holistic nutritionist who supports people in healing through food through her organization The Whole Journey.  Here she provides information on her three favorite baths which help her relax and stay healthy during the holidays.  Remember to re-hydrate after the bath and you will be on the right track!

Tip Number 5:
Don’t hate, meditate!  The holidays can be stressful and our partner, Gabby Bernstein, highly recommends taking time for you to meditate or read a good book.  It’s not enough to exercise and eat healthy – you have to make time to keep your mind healthy and your emotions in check!

Tip Number 6:
Engage in random acts of kindness!  Lauren Geertsen, the founder of Empowered Sustenance, encourages everyone to do something nice for your coworkers, neighbors and family.  For example, bake up some paleo pumpkin brownies and give them to those around you!  A little holiday cheer goes a long way!

The holidays don’t have to be calorie-ridden with marathons of stress – as our partners so eloquently put it, having a holistic approach to health is very important.  Getting enough sleep, keeping your mind and body balanced, exercising and meal planning are all a part of having a successful holiday season without having to purchase a slightly bigger pair of pants for the New Year!
