How to Clean Your Wooden Infrared Sauna

cleaning kit sunlighten natural solution One of the most frequently asked questions to our team here at Sunlighten is how to clean a wooden infrared sauna. A few years ago, we decided to develop our own line of natural cleaners, made specifically to clean your wooden Sunlighten infrared sauna. (Seriously, THAT’S how often we are asked about cleaning your sauna!)

The Sunlighten infrared sauna cleaning kit has been formulated from the latest and safest technologies available. The cleaners contain no solvents, sulfates, glycols, or phthalates.

Many wood-cleaners (and other general-use cleaners) leave stains or wet spots on the untreated wood of an infrared sauna. Our Sunlighten wood cleaner is much more gentle. It leaves no stain or spot but is very effective. The wood cleaner is sold as part of the cleaning kit or on its own.

It is fragrance-free and concentrated to produce 16 gallons of cleaner. And, it’s made of all natural ingredients (natural plant-based surfactants and natural spring water) and is completely non-toxic. Always safe.

In addition to the wood cleaner, our cleaning kit contains a bottle of natural glass cleaner. Hot tip (pun completely intended): be sure to clean the sauna when it is cool and leave the door open until it is completely dry to avoid streaks on the glass. (That’s another frequently asked question by new sauna owners, frustrated with streaky glass on their gorgeous new saunas!)

The natural glass cleaner contains natural surfactants composed of Glucoside (sugar) from U.S. corn, Cocoyl Amide (coconut), palm fatty acids, natural spring water, natural lemon fragrance, vinegar and may include food grade color.

You will also get a fine sanding sponge and two 14″ square microfiber cloths as part of the kit.

We also highly recommend that you use our Bamboo Carbon towels and floor mats while using your Sunlighten infrared sauna to help keep it clean and dry as you sweat that deep, invigorating sweat you love! Place your super-absorbent Bamboo Carbon towels and mats on the bench, backrest and floor every time you sauna, and your sweat shouldn’t stain the wood. (Another hot tip: if a stain were to occur over time, you can use the fine grained sanding sponge contained in the cleaning kit to buff the spot out).
