Sunlighten is proud to call Kansas City home. The hometown pride, positive energy and strong sense of community make K.C. one of the country’s best-kept secrets. It is so inspiring to see the entire city come together in both times of celebration and times of tragedy.
Back on April 13, 2014, a senseless act of hate took the lives of three cherished members of our community. Following the tragedy at the Jewish Community Center and Village Shalom in Overland Park, Kansas, a group of citizens decided that we, as a society, have the power to outshine and overcome hatred. They believe that one of act of kindness can start a ripple to change the world. SevenDays is a challenge to embrace diversity across races, religions and cultures.
I could not agree more and am personally committed to supporting this movement. For the second year, Sunlighten and Sunlight Day Spa will play a major role in supporting SevenDays of Kindness during the week of April 12.
An Uplifting Community Breakfast
We are hosting a community breakfast at 7:30 a.m. on April 13, or Discover Day—a day for taking the time to learn something new and broaden our world view. During breakfast, local authors Mary Lucas and Lisa Kolias Cooper will join us for an intimate conversation about “Keeping Our Loved One’s Spirits Alive.” Following their inspirational presentations, take some time to Discover special healing therapies offered at Sunlight Day Spa.
Join Us and SevenDays 4/12-4/18 and Pay Kindness Forward
Throughout the week, we’re offering a Healing Energy Package to purify your body and cleanse your mind. It’s a 30-minute Reiki massage and a 40-minute Sunlighten purifying treatment with Acoustic Resonance Therapy. Plus, with any spa service, you will receive a Purifying Treatment to give to someone else so you can pay some kindness forward.
For each of the seven days, there are themes for acts of kindness. You can choose one day or seven, but choose to be part of the change! Here is what we are doing to support each theme:
- April 12: Love. Reach out to those who you care about.
We appreciate you, our clients! If you’re in the Kansas City area, we want to share our LOVE. Stop in and receive a spring flower to brighten your day.
- April 13: Discover. Take time to broaden your world view.
After the community breakfast, discover healing therapies from around the world at Sunlight Day Spa.
- April 14: Others. Give of yourself to others, whether an individual or charitable organization.
Help us support the Great Plains SPCA by donating an item for a furry friend during our SPCA Donation Drive from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- April 15: Connect. Give life through connecting your life with others.
Give life to the Community Blood Center of Greater Kansas City. Blood drive at Sunlighten from noon to 3 p.m. Reserve your spot here.
- April 16: Go! Choose an activity that benefits your physical well-being and mind.
We are excited to host our first yoga workshop with instructor Melanie Moore! Please email Heather Holder (email@example.com) for details.
- April 17: You. Remind yourself that you are special.
Sunlight Day Spa is normally closed on Sunday. However, we are opening on from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. just for YOU! Treat yourself and receive 15 percent off your service. Call 913-754-2023 to book.
- April 18: Onward. Let it begin with you. Make a ripple, change the world.
Join Sunlighten and SevenDays for “Faith, Love & Walk,” an opportunity to walk together as a community, embrace our diversity, and take a stand against hate.
Let the Ripple Begin with You!
SevenDays of Kindness was created to start a ripple in the Kansas City community, and that also means starting ripples in our personal communities. In addition to the activities above, the team at Sunlighten will be doing activities to spread kindness within our organization, including gifts for associates and daily shout-outs to teammates.
While this is still a local initiative, the goal is to take this movement nationwide. Take this opportunity to start your own ripple. Working together and embracing diversity with love, we can change the world. Get started in your community by checking out the many resources from SevenDays.
