Solo System including Pad - Product Support

The numbers on the control panel represent the intensity level of the upper and lower domes, not the temperature. For example, if the digital control is set to 9-5, it means that the upper dome is set to 9 (approximately 150°F) and the lower dome is set to 5(approximately 130°F).

Here is the temperature range for each intensity level:

Both the intensity level and the timer must be set for the heaters to turn on.

Proper sauna use is important; just like we warm up and cool down our bodies when we exercise, there are some basic steps to follow to ensure you gain maximum benefits of using a sauna.

  • To get your body accustomed to infrared therapy, start with 10-15 minute sessions at level 5 or lower.
  • Gradually increase each session towards 40 minutes. The level can be adjusted to your preference.
  • Hydrate before and after session. After intense sweating, detoxification expert Dr. Dietrich Klinghardt recommends BioPure Micro Minerals for replenishment.

Click here for the complete Sunlighten sauna protocol.

  • First, ensure the Chromotherapy wire, located at the base of the light strip of the upper dome, is connected to the control box. To control the lights, point the remote at the control box, not the colored lights. The remote must be within a 3 ft. radius of the control box.

NOTE: Make sure when using the Solo® domes that the Chromotherapy wires are not being pinched by the domes. This can cause the light strip to fail.

Never use any toxic chemicals to clean inside or outside the sauna. Our Solocarbon heaters are antibacterial, anti-mold, and anti-germ. Keeping the Solo domes on for 10-15 minutes after use will help to kill any germs or odors.

Your hands will be sweaty after your session. Draping a Bamboo Carbon towel at the top of the upper dome will keep the dome clean as you get out of the Solo.

Since the heaters are located at the bottom of the pad, we do not recommend placing it directly on the floor. We recommend using an extra wide massage table, non-toxic yoga mat, bed or on the floor layered with blankets or towels.

Your Solopad is constructed with 3″ thick memory foam that conforms to your body, relieving pressure points for optimal therapeutic benefits. Because the memory foam is between you and the heaters, it might not feel that warm when checking the warmth with just your hand. Once the memory foam is broken in and compressed with your body weight, you will absolutely feel the heat.

Press the Hr/Min button to switch this setting. When in the minutes setting, there will be a blinking light in bottom right corner of timer window. The hour setting is only available when the intensity is set to 6 or above.

You should always use a fitted Bamboo Carbon Solopad cover to keep it clean during use. When unplugged, the Solopad® may be wiped down with a damp cloth or an all natural disinfectant. The Sunlighten Natural Sauna Cleaner is an effective, natural and non-toxic cleaner that can be used on the SoloPad. For tougher stains, using a mixture of baking soda and water or vinegar and water can be an effective solution.

The Signature Far Infrared Collection - Product Support

The Signature features Solocarbon FAR infrared heaters only. Our patented technology has a highly emissive coating that delivers the highest quality AND quantity of infrared heat for therapeutic results. Solocarbon panels are the only far infrared heaters clinically shown to raise the core body temperature nearly 3° degrees for the most detoxifying sweat, lower systolic and diastolic blood pressure and aid in weight loss.

Unlike a traditional sauna, infrared heats the body directly. Air temperature in the sauna is not as important as the type and quality of the infrared being received. To provide the peak far infrared wavelength of 9.4 microns, the surface temperature of an object must be controlled. The cooler the surface area of the heater, the more far infrared energy will be produced. Sunlighten saunas have a heat sensors at multiple locations to measure surface temperature of the heaters in order to emit the optimal wavelength. Similar to the climate control system for your home, you can set the thermostat to 150° but it probably will not reach that temperature. During a 30 minute session, the air temperature will reach between 120-140.

With the unit ON, press the Temperature Up and Down keys simultaneously to toggle between Fahrenheit and Celsius.
  • Pairing – On your smartphone, select the Bluetooth item and search for the Bluetooth device and select “Sunlighten”. If you are prompted for a password, input password “0000”. When successfully paired, the BT mark will be displayed on the LCD.

  • Bluetooth function – Press the SRC button on stereo to switch to BT mode. It will play a song from your phone automatically.

Our saunas are based on the infrared wavelength and not cabin temperature. Set to the desired temperature and allow the sauna to warm up for 45-60 minutes. The sauna heats up at an average of 1 degree per minute.

Follow these steps for proper warm up:

  1. Make sure your sauna is plugged into a dedicated circuit installed by your electrician.
  2. Set to the desired temperature and set time to 60 minutes
  3. When turning sauna on for the first time, ensure each heater is active after a couple of minutes. If they are not, make sure connections are securely paired from their initial wire feed coming from the power box under the bench
  4. Never fully cover the floor grate and heater with any obstruction that will not allow the heater to dissipate its heat.

You can also use the Reservation feature to turn your sauna on ahead of time.

NOTE: If your sauna is outside in an unheated garage, sun room, basement or patio, you may require additional time to warm the sauna up depending upon the temperature of the surrounding surface & room. REMEMBER, you are required to have an authorized Sunlighten cover over your sauna if it is outside or exposed to the weather in order to maintain your warranty.

The floor heater is designed to output less than the wall heaters. This ensures that the wooden grate that is on top of the heaters lasts for a longer time span and your toes don’t overheat.

How do I use reservation mode?

  1. Turn off the sauna
  2. Press the timer up and timer down arrows simultaneously
  3. A digit will appear on the timer section of the screen to indicate the number of hours before the sauna turns on.
  4. When the timer counts down to “0,” the sauna will turn on for a 60 minute session and will be set to 150 degrees.

To cancel a reservation, press and hold the power button until the time display turns off. At this point you can turn the sauna on normally.

This means your sauna is in Reservation Mode and will turn on when the timer counts down to 0. To switch back to Normal operation, turn the sauna off and press the Timer Up and Down keys simultaneously.
Most likely, the connection from the lights to your control panel is loose. Access the roof and look for the barrel connection (connected with a metal ring). Disconnect and then reconnect, securing metal rings together.

The blue light on the LED panel is an indicator that the near infrared LEDs are on. When there is no blue light, the LEDs are off.

Mid and Far infrared run at at 100% intensity in quick mode. To turn on Near infrared, you can turn on in the heater settings or run a program.

Our 3-in-1® Wellness programs are designed to reach between 120-130 degrees, as this is the optimal infrared sauna temperature range. Each program has a unique blend of infrared wavelengths and intensity levels designed after third party research. The power going into the heater fluctuates to maintain the optimal surface temperature of the heater. That is different than the temperature that you’re seeing on our android control panel. The temperature displayed will change, but the surface temperature is going to stay consistent. That is why the temperature varies for each program. If you desire a hotter sauna experience, here are some tips:

  • Preheat your sauna to 130-140 degrees. Get in for 10-15 minutes before starting the program.
  • Create a custom program based on ambient temperature

The sauna screen goes into a low power mode when the screen is not being interacted with. This saves power but does not lose any of your settings or where you are in your session.
The audio from the Android is powered through the stereo. The stereo must be in AUX mode. To set to AUX mode, press the SRC button to switch modes.
Since the Android OS is an open-source system, developers can create and deploy all types of applications and we are unable to test how those apps will function in the Sunlighten sauna environment. The Google Play store is disabled on the mPulse Android Control Panel to ensure the proper functionality and performance of your Sunlighten sauna. Only the apps on the tablet have been approved to run and function on the mPulse Android Control Panel. While this may be an inconvenience it is a safety measure which ensures you get the maximum life and stability from your Sunlighten sauna.

General Frequently Asked Questions

Assembly:

You can set your sauna on tile, concrete, carpet, laminate or wood. On any floor type, make sure that your sauna is level for optimal use. Be sure to install the sauna feet before assembling. If your sauna is placed outdoors, make sure there is adequate drainage so that water cannot pool around the base of the sauna. If placed near or on cool surfaces (like concrete and basement walls), warm-up can be impacted.

Yes, if you protect it with a Sunlighten canvas, sauna cover. If you place your sauna outdoors without a Sunlighten cover, your warranty will be void. The sauna covers are custom made and may not arrive until after you receive your sauna. Do not install your sauna outdoors prior to receiving your cover. Doing so will void the warranty! Check the sauna cover annually for normal wear and replace as needed. Sauna cover manufacturer warranty is one year.

We recommend 4-12 inches of clearance around the back, sides and top of the sauna to access plugs and for general maintenance. Leave at least 4 inches behind the unit to allow the electronics to cool.

Sunlighten saunas were designed for easy assembly. Below are tips from other customers after assembling their sauna for the first time. First, be sure to go through the pre-assembly checklist.

Pre- Assembly Checklist

  • Install a dedicated outlet before your sauna arrives.
  • For smaller units, plan on 1-2 hours and two people to assemble your sauna. Larger units require three people and more time.
  • Assemble on a level surface and in an area that is dry and protected from the weather.
  • If your sauna is going outside, a Sunlighten sauna cover is required to keep your warranty intact.

Tips from Sunlighten customers:

  • Read the assembly instructions and watch the videos; they really do help.
  • Don’t wear shoes with dark soles; they can leave scuff marks on sauna floor when setting it up.
  • Be prepared to discard a lot of packing materials; saunas are packed really well. Before throwing out any packaging, be sure you have removed all parts. There will be a small box containing hardware pieces nestled within the larger pieces.
  • Remove heater frames while unpacking the sauna panels. They are held on with magnets and may fall off as you move the panels from point A to point B.
  • Be sure to install the sauna feet so your sauna is not directly on the floor.
  • Using furniture sliders under the feet will make it easier to move after assembly. Furniture sliders can be found at most hardware stores or online.
  • Before securing the roof panel, pull the front right panel wires up to feed through the roof opening.
  • There are heater connections in each wall panel. Refer to the images in the assembly instructions for your specific sauna to ensure you make all connections for each wall. Match connections by shape and color.

mPulse Door Installation (Signature door comes installed):

  • Watch door installation video before you begin
  • The door is heavy and will require some extra muscle and two people
  • The hardware includes a standard Allen wrench. Purchasing one with a t-grip will make this a little easier
  • Use a small piece of tape to hold door gaskets in place when tightening the bolts to keep them from falling
  • Be patient when leveling the door. It may take several adjustments.

Due to the glass door design of the sauna, there is always going to be a gap around the door. The goal is to have a small (1/4″) equal gap all the way around the door. Weatherstripping is a great addition and will help close up these gaps. If your gaps are uneven you may need to adjust the door by loosening the hinges and moving the actual glass around. Be sure you tighten the hinges all the down otherwise the door will slide out of the hinges and continue to fall downwards. If the sauna is not assembled on a level floor it is very difficult to adjust the door perfectly and will continue to cause issues.

Sauna accessories have separate user manuals. Refer to the appropriate manual:

Watch our disassembly video and refer to assembly sheet and follow the steps in reverse.

Usage:

Just as you would not leave your cell phone in your car on a hot day, we do not recommend taking cells phones, Apple watches or other electronics in the sauna. The electronics that are built into the sauna are designed for a heated environment.

Yes, it is safe to lean against the heater panels. If you find it is uncomfortable, a sauna backrest is a great option.

Because the floor and calf heaters are lower wattage and have a smaller surface area, they will not produce as much ambient heat as the larger heaters. There is a temperature sensor on each wall to keep it at the right surface temperature to emit the optimal infrared wavelength. Remember, the goal is to provide pure infrared rather than just heat to receive the health benefits. If you don’t feel any heat coming from the heaters, double check that you have all heater connections plugged in – see step 8 of sauna assembly instructions.

No, our saunas are build with 100% solid wood, double-wall construction. They are well insulated and do not give off exterior heat.

For most people, daily sauna use is okay after your body has become accustomed to infrared therapy. Drink increased amounts of water to stay hydrated. Listen to your body and stop your session if you feel any discomfort.

Proper sauna use is important; just like we warm up and cool down our bodies when we exercise, there are some basic steps to follow to ensure you gain maximum benefits of using a sauna. Click here for the Sunlighten sauna protocol.

Just as with exercise or eating healthy, sauna use takes time and consistency to see results. You may not sweat the first few times you use your sauna, but know that sweating (and the detox that comes with it) will increase over time, leaving you feeling rejuvenated and healthy.

After using regularly and still not sweating to your bodies potential, there could be other factors at play. Are you drinking enough water? Are you only hydrating on days you know you will sit in the sauna? It is recommended that you drink half your body weight in ounces.

If you are properly hydrated, Pure Sweat cream will induce sweating. Pure sweat amplifies your body’s ability to sweat by increasing your sweating potential three times higher than without Pure Sweat.

The sauna runs on the same wattage as a blow dryer and will cost little to run monthly: typically 15 to 35 cents per hour. This varies with the model and local utility cost. Your utility company can help you understand a more exact per hour cost if needed.

Bamboo Carbon towels will make your sauna experience more comfortable and will keep the sauna clean. Bamboo Carbon is anti-fungal and deodorizing, emits infrared rays and is highly absorbent. Use on the bench, floor and backrests for optimum comfort and cleanliness. Bamboo Carbon towels can be purchased at Sunlighten Online Store

Sunlighten’s Natural Sauna Cleaner is made specifically for use with your sauna. At least every six months, dampen a cloth with Sunlighten All Natural Wood Cleaner. Clean glass door and windows with Sunlighten All Natural Glass Cleaner. You may dust the outside of the sauna with a dry dust cloth. Do not use chemical cleaners on your sauna. Light sandpaper can be used to treat stains on the inside of the sauna. Sunlighten Natural Sauna Cleaning Kit can be purchased at the Sunlighten Online Store

The heater fabric remains as a covering over the heater panels. This is to protect the heater surfaces from any scratches, etc. It is also there to prevent physical contact between the skin and the heaters as the sauna is being used. To clean, wipe fabric with slightly damp cloth. We recommend doing so at least once every six months. Only do so when sauna is turned off.
